You can tell it’s been YEARS since I read the silmarillion and did in fact NOT look up descriptions before I started drawing the characters bc now I kinda regret giving melkor red eyes instead of icy blue and mairon smooth blond hair instead of wavy ginger hair…

Let me tell you, I could talk for hours about colors alone, but first things first: Don't worry about it. Ainur are shape shifters, so even if descriptions exist they could look completely different just 5 minutes later; and even if they weren't it's totally fine to experiment with different designs😌

For Melkor's eye color I've personally stuck with icy blue because I felt it's a nice touch due to Manwë (canonically) having blue eyes as well (brothers and parallels and all that). Also I like that blue eyes may make him appear more "innocent" and less dangerous since it's a natural color for incarnates. Recently I've grown very fond of black sclera too because it makes the icy blue really pop and enhances the sort of creepy, void vibes.

I'm very fond of red as well and have it as a sort of secondary color for other shapes or when he's angry. Red eyes are just... neat. I do love the intense, unnatural, inhuman vibe, which is something really cool you can with Ainur designs.

Other colors I've seen people draw/describe in their fics include golden (dragon vibes I suppose), pitch black (more void) and purple and I love all of them.

As for Mairon's hair I'm admittedly very fond of the ginger curls, but I always picture him using straight blonde (and anything in between, like a spectrum) as an alternative. Basically I like to imagine that the ginger curls (mostly worn open) are his fiery nature coming through and it's him being free and all that while the straight blonde (sometimes open, sometimes braided) is what he uses for his "Annatar forms", trying to appear all proper and orderly and restrained.

Yes, I read way too much into hair designs.

Anyway don't feel bad about it, keep the designs if you like them or switch them up and experiment if you'd prefer something else and if you're ever wondering if canon has something for a particular Ainu feel free to hit me up; I'm not the greatest expert alive or whatever but I read a lot about them and usually at least know if something exists somewhere😅 (also always down to research it)❤️

So

All fo this basically came from the thought of "what if Melkor wasn't banished into the Void and instead was banished to re-incarnate as a human in our world, and then Tar-Mairon's sacrifices actually pierced the Veil and Melkor started to get his memories back and then got sucked back into middle earth"

And then when he fell out during an eclipse and was found by a retired Dunadan who gave him the name Entullome and he learned the basics of surviving in middle earth and then he went to Lindon where he found one Silmaril without knowing what it was, and on his way back, just befire Bree, he met the Hobbits and aragorn and for some reason (*cough* Sauron's fea in the Ring *cough*) Frodo really took a shine to him and asked him to accompany them to Rivendell and Aragorn recognized him bc Entullome had lived with a Dunadan for like 6 yrs at this point.

From Rivendell Entullome wanted to go to Lake Town bc he was feeling a call to the east.

Then his passing of the Misty Mountains woke up the Balrog from his slumber and Entullome got attacked by the Great Eagles. (Bc at this point his vibes were off enough that the Eagles thought he was of the enemy )

He then laid unconscious in a ditch for a few hours before he was found by a caravan of dwarves smuggling drugs for the Taragul-zirak.¹

They took him with them bc they didn't know what to do with him.

In Erebor the Taragul-zirak had a small but manageable crisis bc they got a *very* generous offer for stealing the Arkenstone (Aka in this AU Silmaril) and even got an enchanted elf stone to exchange it with.

But the change was noticed too early so now they had no idea how to get the stone out of the mountain. Especially bc a different costumer (a collector in Gondor) heard about this and offered them an even bigger sum to double cross their og Sindar client.

So they gave Entullome the Stone to smuggle to Gondor and to tell the Sindar that another elf stole the stone ooopsi

During all of this Sauron is *not* having a good time.

He's basically a grief mad wraith with only a bit of his power left and in constant pain bc of the severed soul bond to Melkor and the form he's stuck in.

His council of Umaia is supportive and keeping Mordor running but they all know that Sauron wants the ring back for a last great hurray.

AND THEN SUDDENLY HIS SOUL BOND SNAPS BACK INTO PLACE !??!?!?!?!?!

But he can't reach his Master husband love god through any means. Can't even See him!

But he can hear how a new Song of Discord is weaving itself through the matter of Arda and slowly getting stronger.

The next part of the story is the one most ...un-fleshed out

Entullome meets with Frodo, Sam & Gollum and they make it into Mordor.

But when Frodo gets taken captive Entullome continues alone and ends up making it into the very heart of Mordor. At the base of Orodruin. There he stumbles into a temple of shining, sharp onyx just to come face to face with a statue of himself glad in armor with a crown wrought of iron.

And just when all the memories start streaming back in Sauron appears (having felt the disturbance of the temple) weak and frail and not actually with enough power to split his fea so he can be at *three* places at the same time.

And then Frodo casts the Ring into the fire >:3

And then Sauron "dies", Melkor gets back all his memories and powers, tears down the Heavens and the last Silmaril and thus starts the Dagor Dagorath :D

¹The Taragul-zirak (silver beards) is a crime syndicate in Erebor & is organized in 4 sectors

- Astha, a famous dancer, as head of the unofficial "guild of the night" (all kind of ...adult entertainment, dancers etc)

- Skadi, responsible for forgeries and dealing of stolen goods, widow of a war hero and a retired warrior herself (now sometimes advisor in war councils)

- Gwil (Astha's hubby & Skadi's bil) owner of a (in)famous tavern, responsible for all dealings with illicit substances

- Astha (Skadi's younger sibling) and head of the thieves guild under Nori but also official part of the spies guild
